The Way to Escape
1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Though we are very capable of sinning, we do not have to sin if we are regenerated believers. Temptation, itself, is not sin. Many times people fall into sin because they think because they are tempted, they have already sinned. When we are tempted, we actually "feel" like sinning or it would not be temptation. Thank God! There is a way to bear up under temptation so that we serve the Lord with steadfastness. The way to escape is into the refuge of God’s holiness.
When you think of the word holiness, I do not want you to think of “No shoes; no shirt; no service.” Often, holiness is a list of "do’s and don’ts." Rather, think of holiness as close to the meaning of the word, holiday. A wonderful refuge in the presence of God is ours. There is a place of rest and victory with great delight in Jesus. It is a place next to Him where we are strengthened with joy.
We need to give ourselves to the consecration of the cross of Christ spending time in prevailing prayer so the Lord can communicate the wonderful truth of glorious freedom in the Holy Spirit. God, Himself, is working in us to bring us to this assurance of His mighty keeping power.
